The girls beat Shelby last night in the first game of regionals 3-0. We outshot them 9-2. The score was 1-0 at halftime. Bethany Bacheller started the scoring about 20 minutes into the match off an assist by Katie Chandonnet. It stayed 1-0 until 10 minutes into the second half when Bacheller again recieved a pass from Chandonnet. With 18 minutes left in the match Chandonnet scored our third and final goal off a throw-in by Bacheller. Megan Schuiteman made 2 saves in net for us and the team recorded its 12 shutout of the season which ties the school record set back in 2001. The defense of Amber Pratt, Kaitlin Huissen, Sydney Hindes, and Stephanie Bagwell played aggressive all night and were relentless. Our midfield also did a great job of supporting the offense attack and Katie Brookhouse shut down one of their top midfielders the entire match. This is our first ever regional win for the soccer program - either boys or girls and the girls deserved the win with intense play.
